Guitare en Scène : une première soirée presque complète et pleinement réussie
Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, mercredi 16 juillet – C’est dans une ambiance chaleureuse que s’est ouverte l’édition 2025 du Festival Guitare en Scène. Déjà presque complet pour cette première soirée, le public ne s’y est pas trompé : l’affiche valait le détour, et l’atmosphère, dès les premiers accords, promettait une soirée mémorable.
Le coup d’envoi a été donné par Jango Janice, en ouverture, qui a pu compter sur une belle affluence de curieux et de fidèles venus la soutenir. Son énergie et sa sincérité ont posé les bases d’un festival placé sous le signe du partage musical.
Direction ensuite la scène du village, où Rosaly a réchauffé l’ambiance avec un set électrique et communicatif. Une belle montée en puissance, avant de passer aux choses sérieuses sous le chapiteau, cœur battant du festival.
C’est Eagle-Eye Cherry, né en 1968 à Stockholm, fils du jazzman Don Cherry — a transformé son succès planétaire Save Tonight (1997) en un véritable hymne générationnel .
Son dernier album Back on Track, sorti en janvier 2025, marque un retour résolu, intégrant des influences comme The Clash, Blondie et Talking Heads tout en restant fidèle à son style organique « old‑school ».
Accompagné de ses quatre musiciens, il été le premier à faire vibrer la grande scène. Pendant une heure, il a su captiver un public déjà conquis, mêlant ses classiques intemporels à une énergie toujours intacte.
Mais le moment fort de la soirée est sans doute venu avec l’entrée en scène des légendaires Simple Minds. Groupe emblématique des années 80, Simple Minds s’est imposé avec des tubes comme Don’t You (Forget About Me) et Alive and Kicking. Le fait qu’ils aient hésité à enregistrer leur plus grand hit, car ce n’était pas leur propre création, est une anecdote bien connue relatée dans leur nouveau documentaire Everything Is Possible.
- Jim Kerr (chant) et Charlie Burchill (guitare) restent les fondateurs du groupe depuis sa création en 1977 à Glasgow. Burchill, multi-instrumentiste, apporte une dimension atmosphérique à leur son grâce à ses guitares aux effets travaillés .
- Depuis 2017, Cherisse Osei occupe le poste de batteuse. Récompensée par la presse pour son jeu précis et énergique, elle est un pilier dynamique de la formation actuelle .
- Le bassiste Ged Grimes, en poste depuis 2010, complète la section rythmique avec solidité et polyvalence musicale .
- D’autres musiciens comme Erik Ljunggren (claviers) ou Sarah Brown (backing vocals) font aussi partie du line-up actuel.
Simple Minds est actuellement en tournée mondiale “Alive & Kicking Tour 2025”, leur plus grande tournée nord-américaine en 40 ans, avec des escales majeures aux États-Unis, Canada et Europe .
Afin de célébrer le 40ᵉ anniversaire de l’album Once Upon a Time, ils ont également préparé une édition remasterisée (« Ruby Anniversary ») ajoutant notamment Don’t You (Forget About Me) dans le tracklist original .
Un nouvel album live Live In The City of Diamonds, enregistré au Ziggo Dome d’Amsterdam le 6 avril 2024, est sorti le 25 avril 2025, combinant des titres emblématiques et des versions live puissantes.
Le concert de Simple Minds au festival a été un condensé de nostalgie et de vivacité, avec un public intergénérationnel conquis. Les classiques de leur vaste discographie ont fait vibrer le chapiteau dans une ambiance électrique.

Guitare en Scène: An Opening Night Nearly Sold Out and Fully Successful
Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, Wednesday, July 16 – The 2025 edition of the Guitare en Scène Festival opened in a warm and vibrant atmosphere. With the first evening already nearly sold out, the audience clearly recognized a lineup worth attending, and from the very first chords, the mood promised a memorable night.
The kickoff came courtesy of Jango Janice, who opened the event with a strong turnout of curious newcomers and loyal fans. Her energy and sincerity set the tone for a festival dedicated to musical sharing.
Next stop was the Village Stage, where Rosaly fired up the crowd with an electric and engaging set. A great buildup before moving on to the main event under the big top, the festival’s beating heart.
The first act on the main stage was Eagle-Eye Cherry, born in 1968 in Stockholm and son of jazz legend Don Cherry. He turned his global hit Save Tonight (1997) into a true generational anthem.
His latest album, Back on Track, released in January 2025, marks a bold comeback, blending influences from The Clash, Blondie, and Talking Heads, while remaining true to his organic, old-school style.
Backed by his four musicians, he was the first to make the big top vibrate. For a full hour, he captivated an already enthusiastic audience, mixing timeless hits with a still-intact energy.
But the true highlight of the evening undoubtedly came with the arrival of the legendary Simple Minds. This iconic 80s band made its mark with classics like Don’t You (Forget About Me) and Alive and Kicking. A well-known anecdote, featured in their new documentary Everything Is Possible, reveals that they initially hesitated to record their biggest hit since it wasn’t originally written by them.
