🎸 Une soirée rock d’exception au Volkshaus Zürich
Le Volkshaus Zürich s’est une nouvelle fois transformé en temple du rock avec une affiche particulièrement alléchante : Smith & Kotzen en tête d’affiche, précédés par les très énergiques Bluedög, qui ont remplacé à main levée le groupe initialement prévu, le Kris Barras Band, pour des raisons que nous ne connaissons pas.
Un changement de dernière minute qui n’a en rien altéré l’esprit de la soirée : groove, virtuosité et rock authentique étaient bel et bien au rendez-vous.
Située au cœur de Zurich et inaugurée en 1910, la salle du Volkshaus est une véritable institution culturelle. Son Theatersaal, pouvant accueillir environ 1 600 personnes en configuration concert, offre une proximité rare entre artistes et public, garantissant une expérience live immersive et chaleureuse.

#🔥 Bluedög – Une première partie qui fait vibrer
La première partie fut donc chamboulée, mais quel plaisir de retrouver Bluedög, que nous avions croisés récemment lors de « Rock Monsters of Switzerland » à Zurich.
Ce soir encore, ils nous ont fait vibrer. Avec Philipp Gerber à la guitare, on n’est jamais déçu : il sait faire chanter la guitare avec une âme incomparable. Chaque note semble habitée, chaque solo raconte une histoire.
Le groupe a parfaitement installé l’ambiance et préparé le terrain pour la suite de la soirée. Si vous souhaitez passer un excellent moment rock, consultez leur agenda — vous ne serez pas déçus.

🎶 Smith & Kotzen – Deux virtuoses, une alchimie évidente
Formé par Adrian Smith et Richie Kotzen, Smith & Kotzen réunit deux guitaristes d’exception autour d’un rock puissant aux influences blues et classic rock. Loin des terrains strictement heavy metal, ils proposent une musique plus organique, axée sur le groove, les harmonies vocales et des solos parfaitement maîtrisés.
Depuis leur premier album éponyme (2021), suivi de Better Days (2022) et du récent Black Light / White Noise (2025), le duo s’est imposé comme une formation solide et inspirée sur la scène rock actuelle.

⚡ Le show : intensité et émotion
Il est 21h. Les lumières s’éteignent, l’intro retentit. Les musiciens entrent sur scène devant une salle comptant entre 500 et 600 personnes — sans doute le seul petit bémol de la soirée. Une affluence un peu faible pour deux géants de la guitare, mais qu’importe : nous sommes là pour profiter pleinement du moment.
Smith & Kotzen sont accompagnés par la bassiste Julia Lage, épouse de Richie Kotzen, et par le batteur Bruno Valverde, également membre d’Angra, solide et précis derrière les fûts.
Le concert démarre fort avec Life Unchained, extrait de Black Light / White Noise, suivi de Black Light. L’énergie est immédiate, les riffs s’enchaînent, le show est parfaitement rodé. C’est un pur plaisir.
Chacun fait parler les cordes comme une voix intérieure. Les regards échangés entre les deux guitaristes ne trompent pas : l’alchimie est réelle. Deux virtuoses, complémentaires, qui se répondent avec naturel et intensité.
Le titre Wraith, issu de leur deuxième album studio, poursuit dans cette dynamique puissante et maîtrisée. La setlist explore leurs deux albums avec équilibre, jusqu’à une fin de concert marquante : You Can’t Save Me de Richie Kotzen, puis Wasted Years, titre emblématique écrit par Adrian Smith.
Quelle belle soirée. Un concert vibrant, authentique, porté par de véritables musiciens qui nous offrent ces émotions rares qui restent longtemps en mémoire. Il ne nous reste plus qu’à replonger dans leurs albums pour prolonger ces instants.

Volkshaus Zürich once again transformed into a true temple of rock with a particularly exciting lineup: Smith & Kotzen headlining, preceded by the highly energetic Bluedög, who stepped in at the last minute to replace the originally scheduled Kris Barras Band for reasons unknown.
A last-minute change that in no way altered the spirit of the evening — groove, virtuosity, and authentic rock were very much present.
Located in the heart of Zurich and inaugurated in 1910, Volkshaus is a true cultural institution. Its Theatersaal, with a concert capacity of approximately 1,600 people, offers rare proximity between artists and audience, ensuring an immersive and intimate live experience.

🔥 Bluedög – A First Act That Set the Stage on Fire
The opening act may have changed unexpectedly, but it was a real pleasure to see Bluedög again, whom we had recently encountered at “Rock Monsters of Switzerland” in Zurich.
Once again, they made us vibrate. With Philipp Gerber on guitar, disappointment is never an option — he makes the instrument sing with incomparable soul. Every note feels alive, every solo tells a story.
The band perfectly set the tone and prepared the ground for what was to follow. If you’re looking for a great rock night, check their schedule — you won’t regret it.

Formed by Adrian Smith and Richie Kotzen, Smith & Kotzen brings together two exceptional guitarists around a powerful blend of blues-infused and classic rock. Far from strictly heavy metal territory, they deliver a more organic sound focused on groove, vocal harmonies, and flawlessly crafted solos.
Since the release of their self-titled debut album (2021), followed by Better Days (2022) and the recent Black Light / White Noise (2025), the duo has established itself as a solid and inspired force on today’s rock scene.

⚡ The Show: Intensity and Emotion
It’s 9 PM. The lights go down, the intro begins. The musicians walk onto the stage in front of a crowd of around 500 to 600 people — perhaps the only slight downside of the evening. A somewhat modest turnout for two guitar giants, but no matter — we were there to fully enjoy the moment.
Smith & Kotzen were joined by bassist Julia Lage, Richie Kotzen’s wife, and drummer Bruno Valverde, also a member of Angra, solid and precise behind the kit.
The show kicked off strongly with Life Unchained from Black Light / White Noise, followed by Black Light. The energy was immediate, the riffs relentless, the performance perfectly tight. Pure pleasure.
Each musician made the strings speak like an inner voice. The exchanged glances between the two guitarists said it all — the chemistry is real. Two virtuosos, complementary and natural, responding to each other with intensity and finesse.
Wraith, taken from their second studio album, continued the powerful and controlled momentum. The setlist moved seamlessly through both albums, culminating in a memorable finale: *You Can’t Save Me* by Richie Kotzen, followed by *Wasted Years*, the iconic song written by Adrian Smith.
What a great evening. A vibrant, authentic concert delivered by true musicians who give us those rare emotions that linger long after the final note. All that remains now is to revisit their albums to relive those unforgettable moments.
