Rain boots and ponchos were the order of the day, special jerseys supported a wonderful cause, and Servette Rugby Club secured a 36–12 victory over US Marmande. Despite the challenging weather, it was a memorable afternoon of rugby and solidarity!
🌧️ A Rainy Day, but an Important Occasion!
On Sunday, 18 October 2026, we headed to Stade Henri-Jeantet, where Servette Rugby Club of Geneva welcomed Union Sportive Marmandaise for the sixth round of the Nationale 2 championship.
And as far as the weather was concerned, let’s make one thing clear: this was definitely not a day for sunglasses!
The rain simply refused to stop, rain boots were everywhere, and ponchos began appearing around the pitch. A truly autumnal atmosphere, complete with mud, damp clothes and plenty of soaked spectators!
But never mind! We were there for the rugby, and above all, for a very special cause.
Because today, Servette Rugby Club was supporting Pink October, the international breast cancer awareness campaign.
🎀 Pink October: Special Jerseys for a Wonderful Cause!
For this match, the Geneva players wore specially designed jerseys in support of Pink October.
A wonderful initiative that gave this sporting occasion an even greater meaning.
These unique jerseys were to be auctioned after the match to raise funds supporting breast cancer research.
Beyond the final score, this initiative reminded everyone that rugby is also about solidarity, generosity and bringing people together.
Seeing the players wearing these exceptional jerseys was a real pleasure, and the initiative deserves recognition.
Congratulations to Servette Rugby Club for its commitment and for combining sport with such an important cause! 🎀
But back to the pitch, because despite the rain, an important match awaited the Burgundy and Gold.
The objective was clear: return to winning ways and, if possible, secure an attacking bonus point!

🔥 A Well-Controlled First Half by Geneva!

It was Union Sportive Marmandaise who opened the scoring through a penalty from E. Marquet.
But the Burgundy and Gold responded immediately.
- Pisanisuccessfully kicked penalties in the 3rd, 8th and 10th minutes, putting Servette firmly in control.
In the 16th minute, E. Marquet reduced the deficit with another penalty for the visitors.
But in the 22nd minute, Geneva stepped up the pace!
- Guetatcrossed the try line to score the first try of the match, with A. Pisaniadding the conversion.
In the 31st minute, Marmande received a yellow card, before Pisani added another three points with a penalty in the 39th minute.
At half-time, Servette led 19–6.
Despite the difficult weather conditions, the Geneva side had managed to impose their game and build a comfortable lead.
Now they needed to confirm that advantage in the second half!
💪 A Second Half Under Control!
After the break, the Burgundy and Gold continued where they had left off.
In the 42nd minute, A. Pisani added another penalty, extending Geneva’s lead to 22–6.
But the match remained competitive.
In the 45th minute, Servette received a yellow card. The visitors took advantage, scoring two penalties through E. Marquet in the 47th minute and A. Conduche in the 49th.
The score was now 22–12.
Marmande attempted to bring some suspense back into the contest, but Geneva refused to lose their composure.
In the 67th minute, L. Foucaud Roy scored another try for Servette, successfully converted by the ever-reliable A. Pisani.
Then, in the 74th minute, L. Boullier completed the scoring with Geneva’s third try, once again converted by Pisani.
Despite the relentless rain, the Burgundy and Gold remained focused and made the difference when it mattered most.
Final score: 36–12 to Servette Rugby Club!
An impressive victory and a welcome result following the defeat against Stade Nantais in their previous home fixture.
⭐ An Important Victory, but No Attacking Bonus Point!
The main objective was achieved: Geneva returned to winning ways!
With three tries scored and none conceded, Servette delivered a solid performance and finished with a 24-point advantage.
However, the hoped-for attacking bonus point remained out of reach. In Nationale 2, Servette would have needed to score at least three more tries than their opponents, meaning two additional tries were required.
That takes nothing away from this excellent victory, achieved in particularly challenging weather conditions.
The team showed patience, efficiency and determination to overcome their opponents.
Congratulations to the Burgundy and Gold on their victory, and respect to Union Sportive Marmandaise for battling until the final whistle!
❤️ A Day When Rugby Also Celebrated Solidarity!
Ultimately, this afternoon will be remembered for much more than the score displayed on the scoreboard.
There was rain, rain boots, ponchos and probably quite a few thoroughly soaked spectators… but above all, there was a wonderful show of support for Pink October.
The specially designed jerseys and their charity auction reminded everyone that sport can also make a meaningful contribution to important causes.
And while the Burgundy and Gold claimed victory on the pitch, perhaps the greatest victory of the day was the spirit of solidarity.
A huge congratulations to Servette Rugby Club for this initiative and to everyone contributing to this important cause.
As for us, all that remains is to dry the camera equipment, the shoes and perhaps even the photographer! 📸🌧️
Come on Servette, and congratulations on a wonderful afternoon of rugby and solidarity! 🏉🎀
