Following the Espoirs’ impressive victory, Servette Rugby Club’s First Team hoped to continue the winning momentum. However, a particularly efficient Stade Nantais side claimed a convincing 48–24 victory at Les Cherpines.
☀️ A Beautiful Day of Rugby, but Two Very Different Outcomes!
On Sunday, 4 October 2026, the sun was shining brightly over the Centre Sportif des Cherpines in Plan-les-Ouates. Almost summer-like weather for a wonderful day dedicated to rugby!
After Geneva’s Espoirs secured a magnificent 43–13 victory against Stade Nantais, all eyes turned to the First Team.
Could they repeat the achievement and give the Grenat supporters a second victory to celebrate?
That was certainly what we were hoping for!
But rugby can be unpredictable, and this time, the visitors from Nantes were determined to return home with the win.

🔥 A Closely Contested First Half, but Nantes Take the Lead!
The Geneva side actually made an ideal start to the match.
In just the 2nd minute, J. Porcher opened the scoring with a penalty. Servette took the lead, offering an encouraging glimpse of what might follow.
But Stade Nantais responded quickly.
In the 7th minute, S. Roche levelled the score with a penalty before S. Moulin crossed the try line two minutes later. Roche added the conversion, putting the visitors ahead.
Servette refused to give up!
In the 28th minute, M. Antonescu found a gap in the defence and scored a try, successfully converted by J. Porcher.
The Grenat fought their way back into the contest, with both teams battling hard.
Unfortunately, just before the break, S. Roche scored another try for Nantes in the 40th minute and converted it himself.
At half-time, Stade Nantais led 17–10.
Everything was still possible, but the Geneva side would need to raise their game to turn things around.
💥 A Devastating Start to the Second Half for Geneva!
Unfortunately, the return from the dressing rooms proved extremely costly for Servette Rugby Club.
In the 41st minute, S. Roche crossed the try line once again and successfully converted his own try.
In the 45th minute, Servette received a yellow card, leaving them temporarily a player down and making an already difficult situation even more challenging.
The visitors immediately took advantage.
In the 46th minute, S. Moulin scored his second try of the match, before A. Onesime added another in the 51st minute.
Roche successfully converted both tries and added a penalty in the 56th minute.
In the space of just fifteen minutes, the visitors had taken complete control.
A particularly difficult spell for the Grenat, who watched the match slip away from them.
💪 A Late Geneva Fightback, but Too Little, Too Late
Despite the growing gap on the scoreboard, Servette Rugby Club’s players refused to throw in the towel.
In the 61st minute, the Geneva side were awarded a penalty try.
The match then became increasingly tense, with two yellow cards shown in the 66th minute, one to each team.
In the 69th minute, L. Heinrich scored another try for Servette, successfully converted by L. Ollion.
Then, in the 75th minute, V. Guetat also crossed the try line.
The Grenat continued fighting until the final whistle, but the damage done during the opening stages of the second half was simply too great.
Stade Nantais eventually secured a 48–24 victory at Les Cherpines.
A well-deserved win for the visitors, who made the most of the decisive moments in the match.
⭐ A Defeat to Learn From Before Moving Forward
After the Espoirs’ victory, we naturally hoped the First Team would follow in their footsteps.
But this match served as a reminder that nothing can ever be taken for granted in Nationale 2.
Against an efficient Nantes side, Servette paid a heavy price for their difficulties immediately after half-time.
Despite a late response, the Geneva players were unable to find their way back into the contest.
The team must now analyse this defeat, regain their defensive solidity and, above all, avoid repeating the same mistakes.
The season is still long, and every match offers another opportunity to improve.
🏉 Next Challenge: An Away Match Against SMRC!
There is no time to dwell on this disappointment!
On Sunday, 11 October 2026, Servette Rugby Club will travel to face SMRC.
Another challenge awaits the Grenat, who will need to produce a much stronger performance to return to winning ways.
Let’s hope this defeat provides extra motivation and that the team can respond positively in their very next match.
Keep your heads up, Grenat – the season goes on! 🔴🔵🏉
